In some circumstances, sometimes after you have upgraded Tradebox, the program may fail to open. Typically, after clicking on the program shortcut, the splash screen opens and says, "Connecting to database" then disappears.
Looking in the Issues Log, you may see an entry that says:
"The Tradebox Service was unable to connect to the Tradebox Database for the following reason: Login timeout expired. A network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. For more information see SQL Server Books Online. TCP Provider: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."
To reset Tradebox, do the following:
- Open Task Manager and close all instances of Tradebox, including the Background Processes.
- Right click on the Start Button and choose the search option. In the search bar type "Services" and open the Services app. Scroll down to the entry that says SQL Server (Tradebox). Right click on it and choose the Restart option.
- Wait 1 minute and then reboot the PC.
