Tradebox Finance Manager contains a generic connection to allow the import of CSV and Text files. Generally this is used to import orders from platforms the software does not have an API connection with. However, it can be used to import any file of orders as long as the file is in a compatible format and contains sufficient data required by the program.
The CSV connection always reads the CSV file from a local folder on the user's PC or network. For the CSV connection to work you will need to create an IN folder and an OUT folder for each CSV connection you set up. These need to be exclusive to each connection and cannot be shared, i.e:
When the import process begins Tradebox starts by reading all the orders in the file in the IN folder. Tradebox will discard any orders in the file that it has previously imported and will only import new orders. Once this process has been completed the file will be moved into the OUT folder, which effectively acts as a repository of processed files.
The file can be manually copied into the local folder or, were possible, copied automatically. To enable automation the CSV file needs to be routinely published to an FTP location where it can be routinely accessed by Tradebox. The FTP location is NOT provided by Tradebox but is the user's FTP.
