Following the first ever release of a 64-Bit edition of Sage 50, it was noted that there were issues in connecting to Sage and also the speed of which data can be passed to and from Sage via the SDO. The 64 Bit editions of Sage 50 (V30 and V31) also have a known conflict with the anti-virus program ESET which prevents 3rd party applications like Tradebox from connecting to Sage. If you're experiencing this issue, please follow Sage's guidance on adjusting your ESET settings to allow the connection to go through.
The issue revolves around the 64-Bit edition of the SDO (Sage Data Objects). This is the built-in desktop connector that installs with Sage 50 and allows 3rd party applications, like Tradebox, to read and write data into Sage 50.
The most effective way to resolve the 64-Bit connection issue is to install the 32bit edition of the SDO. The 32-Bit edition of the SDO can be downloaded from the following Sage web page:
https://gb-kb.sage.com/portal/app/portlets/results/viewsolution.jsp?solutionid=201224120012523
After the download is complete, browse into the Zip file and double click the x86 Folder. Then run the Windows Installer Package File Type called “Sage50Accounts_SDO”. If your IT Support usually deal with software installations, please ask them to do this process for you.
The only current downside to this is that if you have installed the v30.0 or v30.1 SDO, you may have to uninstall it before installing the v31.0 SDO.
