Shopify API Credentials

When creating an integration in Tradebox to a Shopify webstore you will need to provide Tradebox with:

• The Shopify Webstore URL
• Client ID
• Client Secret

Webstore URL

Your webstore URL can be viewed after logging in to your Shopify admin panel. Select the Settings option, and go to Domains:

Your domains are displayed here. If you have more than one, you should use the primary domain. Tradebox requires the url prefaced with https://, so if you were connecting to the Tradebox UK example below, you would enter https://tradebox-uk.myshopify.com as your url.

Creating the Shopify App

To obtain your client ID and client secret, you will need to create an app within the Shopify dev dashboard. You can access it via the Shopify settings, in Apps and sales channels.

Click Develop Apps, then Build Apps in Dev Dashboard.

This will take you to the dev dashboard apps screen, where you can click to create app in the top right corner.

In the Create an App screen, select the Start From Dev Dashboard option, and type in the app name Tradebox, then click Create.

The next step is to input the url, which should always be https://shopify.dev/apps/default-app-home. 

Untick the Embed app in Shopify admin box.

Scroll down to the Access section and click Select Scopes.

This is where you will select the permissions that Tradebox requires. 

The list of scopes you need to select is as follows:

• Channels – read/write
• Customer – read/write
• Discounts – read/write discounts
• Draft orders – read/write
• Fulfilment services – read/write
• Inventory – read/write
• Inventory shipments – read/write
• Locations – read/write
• Order editing – read/write
• Orders – read/write
• Product Information – read/write
• Products – read/write
• Shipping rates – read/write
• Store content – read/write

Once you have selected all the relevant scopes, click Done. Then click the Release button, which will pop up a window. Leave the boxes blank, and click Release once more. 

The app will then need to be installed on your Shopify site. 

In the Home section of the app you've created, you'll see an Install App button. Click that, and it will ask you to log into your Shopify site. After logging in, you'll see this screen:

Click Install, and the app will be successfully installed on your site.

The final step is to retrieve the Client ID and Client Secret from the app to input into Shopify. These details are found in the Settings section of the app. 

These can be copied and pasted directly into the corresponding fields in the Tradebox channel set up, along with your Shopify domain url.
