Before installing Tradebox for the first time, we highly recommend ensuring your operating system has been updated, all outstanding Windows Updates have been installed and the PC is rebooted before Tradebox is installed.
In the unlikely event that Tradebox fails to fully install correctly, you may get a pop up box with the following error message; "The type initializer for 'Tradebox.Connector.WolfAPI.ExternalAPI' threw an exception".
If this happens you will need to fully uninstall Tradebox and reinstall.
These instructions are only for users installing Tradebox for the first time who have not downloaded any orders into Tradebox. If you have been using Tradebox, and it contains orders, contact Tradebox Support.
- Ensure all Tradebox functions are closed by right clicking on the Task Bar at the bottom of the PC screen and choosing Task Manager. Then close Tradebox.exe from the APPS section. In the Background Processes, close Tradebox_Service.exe and Tradebox_Application_Service.exe (if they appear).
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Tradebox and choose uninstall.

In Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Microsoft SQL Server (2019) 64-bit and choose uninstall. During the SQL uninstall only select the Tradebox Instance:
- Go to C:\Program Files (x86) and ensure that the Tradebox folder has been removed. If it has not, delete the Tradebox folder.
- Go to C:\ProgramData and delete the Tradebox One folder.
- Open RegEdit. You can find this by typing "RegEdit" int the search bar of your PC. Go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE, right click on the Tradebox folder and delete.
- Reboot the PC.
- When the PC reboots, ensure that the operating system has been updated, all outstanding Windows Updates have been installed.
- Reboot the PC
- Install Tradebox from new.
- During the installation, you may be asked if you wish to overwrite the existing Tradebox SQL database. Say yes to this.
