Using Tradebox with Sage 50 Ireland
Tradebox is primarily designed for UK businesses using the UK version of Sage 50 Accounts. However, because the Irish version of Sage 50 Accounts is identical, and Irish taxation rule are very similar to the UK, Tradebox can be used with Sage 50 (IRE) with the following caveats.
Currency
The base currency in Tradebox is hardcoded to GBP. This means that the EU currency exchange rate in Tradebox needs to be set to 1.00. All other EU countries in Tradebox should also have the currency exchange rate set to 1.00. The “update exchange rates prior to download” feature should be unticked. This is done in Tradebox under Configuration > Currencies.
Tradebox will work with Sage 50 (IRE) if orders are sold in Euros and posted to Sage 50 in Euros. There is no provision for converting Euro sales into GBP.
Tax Rates
Tradebox has 5 tax rates that are automatically mapped to Sage 50, as follows:
Zero Rated = T0
Standard Rated = T1
EU B2B Sales = T4
Non Vatable = T9
Reduced Rate = T5
The Tradebox Standard Rated tax code is the default tax code and is set at 20%. To adjust this to the Irish Standard Rate of VAT, go to Configuration > Tax Rates and edit the Standard Tax Rate.
EU VAT Rules
Tradebox introduced an EU VAT rule matrix to the software in July 2021 to allow UK businesses to handle the changing VAT rules. These only apply to web sales as marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon already calculate, collect and remit the VAT on all EU sales. Because the Republic of Ireland is an EU member state, your business remains within the EU VAT area. The EU VAT rule matrix for any overseas sales into the EU should be configured to calculate destination VAT. The EU VAT rule matrix is held within the VAT tab within each sales channel.
