Clicking Logs in the top right of the program takes you to the logging pages where Tradebox records its processes and any errors it has encountered. The logs are read top to bottom, with the most recent information at the bottom.
These logs provide valuable insight about what your Tradebox is doing at any given time and can be used to refine your system's set up and resolve any issues you may be encountering.
Reading the Logs Screens
There are two sections to the Logs screen, the Process and Issues tabs. Process displays all of the information about the normal running of the program, what process it is currently running, etc. The Issues tab displays any errors that Tradebox may have encountered during its processing.
In the top right, you have a date control. This means if you want to look back over logs for previous days, you can simply change the date to view earlier logs.
The Process Log
The process log is where the normal operations of the program are recorded. This tells you when a certain channel is processing, or what part of the cycle the program is currently running through, such as a stock upload or importing your products from Sage.
If the process log is completely blank, or the timestamp of the last log line is more than 1 hour ago, that could be a sign that the program isn’t functioning correctly. In most cases, a simple restart would resolve this.
The Issues Log
This is the log that stores all the error messages you might encounter within Tradebox. If you notice any problems with Tradebox, this is the first place to come to find out more. The screen is divided into two halves: Order Issues and Synchronisation Issues.
Order Issues: The order issues section of the screen displays information about specific orders that have a query status within Tradebox. Queries are orders where Tradebox needs some input from you in order for the order to pass successfully to your accounts system. The query reasons will display here and in the toolbar in the middle, you have buttons which will take you to the relevant screens in order to resolve the most common queries.
Synchronisation Issues: This part of the issues log provides information on more general issues. You will sometimes find query orders mentioned here too, but it also covers connection issues to your online sites or to your accounts package, as well as reasons why specific orders may not be downloading or posting.
To further help you, common errors that appear in this section often include a link to our support site, where you can find step by step guides on how to resolve the problem.
Searching the Logs
There can often be a lot of information recorded in your Tradebox logs, as processes and errors will repeat each time the cycle runs, which can be as often as every minute.
This makes the Find button in the bottom left hand corner particularly useful for finding information in the program.
You can use this option to search for a particular order number to check if it has downloaded or generated an error, or to search for a SKU if you want to check the stock quantity that Tradebox has uploaded for a particular product, or for a particular process, for example if you want to see the last time orders were posted to your accounts.
You also have access to the Find in eBay Logs button which allows you to search directly within the feed that Tradebox receives from eBay, although this is most often used by Tradebox support.
