Shopify Discounts

From Tradebox Version 2.0.241205.0 (published on 05/12/2024) the program automatically detects the how the Shopify store is configured to handle VAT (inclusive or exclusive) and the Shopify discount Type(s) used on a Shopify order downloaded into Tradebox.

Tax Settings

The Global Tax setting are held in Shopify under Settings > Taxes and duties > Global settings (scroll to bottom of Taxes and duties web page).

• If the Global setting, "includes sales tax in product price and shipping rate" is ticked, Tradebox will treat all values downloaded as inclusive of VAT.
• If the Global setting, "includes sales tax in product price and shipping rate" is NOT ticked, Tradebox will treat all values downloaded as exclusive of VAT.

Discount Types

Typically, the Shopify discount types fall into these categories:

• Product Discount - the discount is applied against each Product on the order, where appropriate.
• Order Discount - the discount is applied against the entire order.
• Shipping Discount - the shipping value is reduced to zero

The previous versions of Tradebox could only handle a single discount type for each Shopify channel created in the software. Through the auto detection of discount types, the later versions of Tradebox allow the use of a mixture of Shopify discount types, including multiple different discount types on the same order.

• If the discount type used on the order is a Shipping Discount, Tradebox will apply the discount against the shipping amount on the order.
• If the discount type used on the order is a Product Discount, Tradebox will apply the discount against the appropriate products in the order.
• If the discount type used on the order is an Order Discount, Tradebox will apply the discount against the entire order.

**Tradebox cannot apply Order Discounts against individual Products lines on the order OR split an order discount across product item lines as this generates errors that cannot be resolved.**
